How the method works...
Listen to the 1-minute video several times daily until you memorize it completely!. Follow along by reading the text and the English translation to get your ears used to the real sounds. Use high-quality headphones (SONY, JBL, AIWA etc.) for better performance.
While watching, try to speak exactly like the character (intonation and rhythm), even if you don't understand everything yet. The focus here is to loosen up your speaking muscles. Fundamental for fluency and understanding spoken Brazilian Portuguese.
Understand the text part by part by clicking on the sentences. Do not translate isolated words, but rather blocks of ideas and context. You can click on each block to access the option to hear the sentences separated from each text.
When speaking Portuguese repeating the video, you must create a mental image. Imagine you are living that hypothetical situation talking to someone. This trains your brain to associate the sound directly to the meaning, without needing to pass through English. It is fundamental to do this training daily until you feel confident that you have memorized the whole text of the 1-minute video and are understanding it without needing to mentally translate from Portuguese to English.
Each lesson has a different purpose. Podcasts, series, movies, documentaries, children's themes, and real everyday situations from amateur videos. This variation helps your mind adapt to different types of context, voice tonality, accents, and ways of speaking (formal and informal).
You make your own time. The most important thing is to maintain daily consistency. The more you dedicate yourself, the greater your learning will be. Learn like a baby: listen, speak (even without knowing the meaning), and try to find out the meaning later. Studies show that everything we learn in one day, the next day, we forget 80%. The positive side is that 20% was truly learned, so if we repeat the same thing we studied the day before, we will learn the next day about 20% of the 80% we didn't learn on the first day. Realize that repetition will improve your learning every day. The secret is to maintain daily repetition until you feel you truly understand all the content and go to the next lesson. It's not difficult, it's challenging and the result is guaranteed.
